There’s a new challenge starting over at Double Trouble today (#175). This time the challenge by Thing 1, and the only requirement to enter, is to use die cut or punched images when creating your card.
If you would like to go a little further Thing 3 has the additional – but optional – challenge of using the sketch from Try a Sketch on Tuesday to design your card smile on your card or project.
Finally, if you have met both of the challenges by Things 1 and 3 then you are eligible for the double dare by Thing 2 to enter your card or project at our partner, Try a Sketch on Tuesday.
The Quick and Simple Details:
- Tore several pieces of scrap paper to mimic background on the sketch
- Punched balloons from Stampin’ Up punch
- Large balloon die cut and stamp from set by Concord & 9th
- Added balloon strings from die cuts from Lawn Fawn
Additional Challenges:
Try a Sketch On Tuesday #655– (sketch above)
Seize the Birthday #291 – with topping of stripes
Dragonfly Dreams Sept. Challenge – Birthday
As You Like it Challenge – Layer or not? – YES! I love using layers to add small amount of color, and even texture as I did in this birthday card. Layering is also one of my favorite ways to add extra detail and to create framing for making an image pop.
Love the balloons … fantastic blending of the colors for dimension and the torn edges of the complementary variety of patterned papers and colors are perfect for the background. Fun card.
Love your interpretation of the sketch – the balloons are perfect with the torn paper background 🙂
Gorgeous layers and card, love the colours too, so bright and happy..
Thank you so much for joining in with our challenge this fortnight at As You Like It..

I absolutely love the different pattern papers torn in strips as the background! And the balloons were a great choice to represent the circles of the sketch. Cute card! 🙂

Melanie, Such a great birthday card and clever use of our Topping. I love how the colors, and the ripped paper adds a bit of texture too. Thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday.
Melanie, what a clever and cute interpretation of our Try a Sketch on Tuesday, and our partner Double Trouble’s “Anyway You Punch It” challenge! Great touch of using a white gel pen to give your balloons dimension, and the torn paper as your background!! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and clever card with both of us!!! -Donna

Your card is lovely, Melanie! The balloons are perfect for the sketch but I am drawn to the background of torn strips. Very clever. Thank you for joining us at TSOT Challenge #655.
