Good morning! I had time to make one more patriotic card this morning before heading out to celebrate Independence Day. I also took a couple pictures of Pepper with her 4th of July bandana on. I was kind of surprised when I was cropping the pictures how much gray she has gotten (worse than me!) The third picture shows her back in December of 2013.
The QUICK and SIMPLE details: Background made with watercolor “smooshing” on mixed media paper, then stenciled with some tinted embossing paste. While that was still wet I added some fired brick distress embossing powder on parts of it. I used a stamp from Deep Red that has the music of the Star Spangled Banner. The “God Bless America” is from part of an older Stampin’ Up stamp that I masked off. I distressed the edges, and added a few vellum stars to finish it off.
I would like to join in the following challenges today:
The Paper Players #548 – Stars and/or stripes
Just Us Girls #591– word week – “Script”
Three Room Studio #42 – use red, white, and/or blue
I love the vintage feel of this card…you did a great job with a patriotic theme! And I LOVE seeing Pepper….and yes, we’re all getting grayer, LOL! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Players this week!
An absolutely beautiful and rustic patriotic card, Melanie. I’m so glad you shared it with us at Just Us Girls.
