Today my card features the “Kissing Technique,” one of the first I learned when I started stamping. Unfortunately I rarely think to use it, even though it is one of my favorites. I was inspired to use it since that is the theme for the new challenge at Stinkin’ Inkers this month.
To describe the kissing technique in the simplest way I can think of, means adding another stamp’s pattern to a solid stamp. When the solid stamp is used the result is an image that has two patterns/colors.
The steps are simple:
Stamp the solid stamp in the first color of ink (this should be the lighter of the two colors you are using).
Ink the second stamp with a darker color (a background stamp, or something with a limited amount of print on it works best).
Stamp the first stamp on the second stamp, which will lift off the darker ink.
Now stamp that on your card stock and you will see the solid background with the darker ink from the second stamp on it.
Below you can see a close up of how I die cut and used these “kissed” squares on my card.
I used a set from Stampin’ Up! for this card, Sailing Home. This is a great set for making masculine cards. If you would like to give this technique a try and enter it in the Stinkin’ Inkers Challenge the link up will be on for the whole month. We would love to see your creation!
