Happy New Year and I’m so glad you stopped by today! I have a special card to share, my first as a guest designer for the month of January at Just Us Girls Challenge. This is a fun, weekly challenge, and today is the start of “word week.” You can see from the graphic below that the word for this challenge is “Hello.” Use that in any way you like as inspiration for your card!
To make my card I used a somewhat intricate die cut, and although it looks like the colored pieces are inlaid, I actually used a much easier technique. Instead of cutting the die cut I placed it on white card stock with an embossing pad underneath before running it through my Big Shot. By doing this I made just an impression of the die cut. I then carefully colored the sections made by the impression lines and cut it out around the outer edge, just inside the line. Next I fully cut out the die cut without the embossing pad, and adhered it to my colored base. I cut it out one more time with gold paper for the letters in the middle. ( I have to give credit to a Jennifer McGuire video for inspiring me to try this technique!)
I would like to join in these additional challenges:
Watercooler Wednesday #302 – anything goes
Krafty Chicks #540 – anything goes
Allsorts #605 – anything goes

Gorgeous card, Melanie! I’ve had this die for ages and have yet to use it! Oh dear! You’ve given me incentive! Welcome to JUGS; thrilled to have you guest designing with us this month!
