Making backgrounds with alcohol ink is messy, but is one of my favorite cardmaking techniques to do. I made this one a while ago and finally decided to use it for a card. To add some texture I embossed it and then sanded it a little to give some more shading. I love how it turned out, unfortunately these types of backgrounds are one of a kind, you can never get the same exact look twice!
There are several challenges featuring autumn and fall so I wanted to create something with fall colors. I added some browns and gold foilage to the shades of orange and red.
I used one of the sketches at Cut It Up! #211 – there were 2 but this is the one I used:
I stamped and colored a few fall images, added a linen thread bow, and finished it off with a sentiment.
I would like to join in these additional challenges:
Cardz 4 Galz #133 – Autumn/Fall
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – Layer it up!
Aud Sentiments #262 – Halloween/Fall Sentiment
Dream Valley Challenges #235 – Autumn Colors
Papercraft Challenges #63 – Autumn Colors

Wow the background paper design you created is beautiful. The foliage you added is perfect. I like the dies and colors. Thanks for sharing over at Cardz 4 galz ( and Aud Sentiments)
Love this. Thanks for playing along with us at UYS.
What a lovely take on our sketch, Melanie! The inked background would have been beautiful by itself, but I love the dimension and detail that you brought to it with the embossing folder and sanding. It’s totally gorgeous! And your leaves are the perfect embellishment.
Thanks for joining us at Cut it Up for our Sketch challenge!
